Franklin D. Hayes, 89, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on November 24, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on May 21, 1934, to Guy and Ruby (Burnham) Hayes in Quitman, MS.
Franklin was a longtime member and deacon at Bucatunna Baptist Church.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Ann W. Hayes; son, Donald F. (Debra) Hayes; daughter, Melissa H. Swanner; four grandchildren, Jeff A. (Shea) Swanner, Jonathan E. Woodall, Madeline R. (Tyler) Lemings, and Jason M. Swanner; two great-grandchildren, Juliette Swanner and Eleanor Lemings; and son-in-law, Charles (Marsha) Woodall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Hayes; mother, Ruby Hayes; daughter, Debra Woodall; son-in-law, Rickey Swanner; and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held Saturday, November 25, 2023, after 5:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at the Bucatunna Baptist Church with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating.
Pallbearers were Jeff A. Swanner, Jonathan E. Woodall, Jason M. Swanner, Chad Woodall, Jeffery Wilson, and Steven Wilson.
Burial took place in the Ford Memorial Gardens.
