James Harlon "Buddy" Long, 85, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on January 14, 2024, in Jackson, MS.
He was born on June 3, 1938, to Jake and Lois (Wright) Long in Clarke County, MS.
Buddy was a retired member of the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department with over 50 years of service. He was the owner and operator of Long's Auto Supply for 47 years. He was also a member of the Hamasa Shriners.
James is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Long; daughter, Lacia L. (Jimmy) Donald; two grandsons, Ben (Jessica) Donald, and Wesley (Samantha) Donald; three great-granddaughters, Anne Patton Donald, Eleanor Maelynn Donald, and Lillian Jane Donald; god-daughter, Maggie (Phillip) Robinson; two god-grandsons, Forrest Robinson and Ledger Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Lois Long; and two sisters, Scharlene Boykin and Sheryl Cook.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, after 5:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Coats officiating.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
