Funeral services for Jimmie Nathan “Bill” Donald, Sr., age 89, of Gilbertown, AL, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, AL, with Reverend Grant Barber and Reverend Holden Smith officiating. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment followed the service in the Gilbertown Cemetery in Gilbertown, AL.
Mr. Donald was born April 29, 1935, in Barrytown, AL, to Walter and Sadie Donald. He passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at USA Medical Center in Mobile, AL.
He was a hardworking man devoted to his family. Just recently, he was still doing his own yard work and cutting grass. He enjoyed raising a garden every year and was a very skilled woodworker. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed a good day of fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Donald of Gilbertown, AL; sons, Nathan Donald (Krina) of Gilbertown, AL, and Jeff Donald (Ginger) of Gilbertown, AL; grandchildren, Erica Donald, Ryann Donald, Dustin Donald, and Brent Donald; and great grandchildren, Kellen Wilson and Tucker Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter “Molly” Donald; mother, Sadie Stafford Donald; and brothers, W. L. “Joe” Donald and Walter “Bunk” Donald.
Serving as pallbearers were Dustin Donald, Brent Donald, Bruce Martin, Jeff Kinard, Joel Donald, and Danny Smith. Honorary pallbearers included Ryann Donald, Kellen Wilson, Tucker Wilson, Colton Mozingo, Trevor Busby, Allen Busby, Alex Cruz, Chris Coody, and Ryan Webb.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Gilbertown Baptist Church children and youth departments.
