Mary Milstead, 87, of Stonewall, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born on November 15, 1934, to Dewey and Vermall Downs. Mary was a long-time member of Stonewall First Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries after 30 years. She always had a beautiful yard that she loved working in. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Red) Garrett and Dudley Williams; four grandchildren, Wendy Garrett, Jason (Jan) Garrett, Suzie (Billy) Smith, and Leigh Martin; 10 great grandchildren, Dusty (Whitney) Pritchett, Caleb (Christian) Pritchett, Kyle Pritchett, Jacob Garrett, Jaye Garrett, Bethany (Zach) Weir, Brooke Thomas, Autumn Schrimpshire, Gabe Scrimpshire, and Graham Martin; three great great grandchildren, Gus Pritchett, Vanessa Weir, and King Collier; four sisters, Pauline Heathcock, Hannah Wilder, Joann (Russell) Mack, and Joyce (Lanton) Agent; two brothers, Jerry (Charlene) Downs and Jimmy (Pat) Downs; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Milstead; mother and father, Vermall and Dewey Downs; one sister, Nina Dyess; three brothers, Richard Downs, Sammy Downs, and Larry Downs; one great-grandchild, Colby Pritchett; two great-great grandchildren, Piper Dearman and Lillie Collier.
Visitation was held Friday, November 11, 2022, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 11, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Files and Rev. Jason Castle officiating. Burial took place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jeff Morland, Carl Robinson, Dusty Pritchett, Kyle Pritchett, Jacob Garrett, and Bruce Martin.
