Funeral services for Roger Anthony “Sport” Miller of the Horn Community in Clarke County, MS, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023, at Providence Church in Carmichael, MS. Visitation was held for one hour just prior to the service at Providence Church. Interment followed the service in the Providence Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was born April 28, 1967, in Quitman, MS, to Roger Dale and Jewel Miller. He passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, MS. He was an avid outdoorsman who really loved to fish and also enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his son, Ryan A. Miller (Alicia) of Shubuta, MS; stepchildren, Memory Smith, Marcy Jenkins, and Scotty Hutto; brother, James D. “Jimbo” Miller of Shubuta, MS; sisters, Martha Sue Harrison Ricketson of Houston, TX, and Cassie H. Manor (Rusty) of Crockett, TX; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Dale Miller; mother, Jewel Downey Miller; brothers, Bobby Harrison and Thomas Harrison; paternal grandparents, Frank and Vivian (Boykin) Miller; and maternal grandparents, Claude Alvin “Dock” and Sadie (Cooper) Downey.
Serving as pallbearers were Jimbo Miller, Jeremy Dunigan, Brady Dunigan, Jamie Warning, Ryan Miller, and Tim “Smitty” Smith. Honorary pallbearers included Max Johnson, Camrynn Davis, and Josey Dunigan.
