Funeral services for Thomas Jefferson Andrews, age 86, of Melvin, AL, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, AL, with Reverend Travis McManus officiating. Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Phillips Funeral Home. Interment followed the service in the Brightwater Cemetery in Needham, AL.
Mr. Andrews was born August 9, 1936, to Samuel and Edna Andrews, in Butler, AL. He passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at his residence in Melvin, AL.
Thomas loved God and reading his Bible; his church affiliation was Bethlehem Holiness Church. He enjoyed hunting, mechanicing, and wood working.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy Andrews of Carmichael, MS, Tommy Andrews of Quitman, MS, Bobby Andrews of West Palm Beach, FL, and Dustin Turner (Summer) of Toxey, AL; daughters, Peggy Joyce Turner of Melvin, AL, Glenda Glover of Sweetwater, AL, and Beverly Smith (Troyce) of Gilbertown, AL; sisters, Inez Crosby of Thomasville, AL, and Paralee Busby of Needham, AL; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Virginia Johnson Andrews; father, Samuel Obadiah Andrews; mother, Edna Moore Andrews; brothers, Jack Andrews, Charlie Andrews, James Calvin Andrews, John Andrews, and Bub Andrews; and sisters, Annie Mae Evans, Stella Stafford, Mary Ida Bell, and Mallie Wilson.
Serving as pallbearers were David Turner, Raymond Havens, Lee Havens, Turner Duvall, Doug Taylor, and Darrell Wilson. Honorary pallbearers included Butch Williams, Jim Lane, Kenny Nix, and all members of Eiler Hunting Club.
