The Town of Shubuta met in regular session Monday, April 4.
Motion was made and approved to renew the CD for 12 months at .05% in the amount of $10,381.99
Supervisors Lorenzo Carter informed the board about beautifying the town. He is about to fix the tennis court and put up a pavilion with bathrooms. The town will be responsible for the plumbing.
Chundra Blakley would like to set up a drive thru for Easter bags on April 13 in remembrance of Toria Hoze-Miles annually.
Mayor Cleveland Peebles informed the board that James Street was in bad shape and would take a lot of money to fix the street.
Clerk Kutrinah told the board a notary public was needed and approved for her to be the notary public.
Deadline for the agenda monthly would be 12 noon the Thursday before the board meeting.
Motion was approved to call for a special election to fill the unexpired term of Hoze-Miles’s alderman seat. The voting date will be May 17, and deadline to apply will be April 27.

May 2
The Town of Shubuta met in regular session Monday, May 2.
Clerk Kutrinah stated a transfer needed to be made into the police account. Motion was approved to move $1000 from general fund to police account. Dora McFarland will call the police chief and tell her not to return to work until she can meet with the board.
Motion was made and approved to move court from the Senior Citizen Building back to the Multi-Purpose Building.

Renew the year-to-year contract with Waste Pro without the containers
To hire a city worker, Essit Brant
To change the rental deposit from $1000 to $200
To renew a CD in the amount of $16,647.85 at First State Bank for 12 months at .10% interest.

May 3
The mayor and Board of Aldermen met in special called meeting on May 3.
Mayor Pro Tem Dora McFarland informed the board about the police department not paying for itself to operate. Since no revenue is coming in from the police department that it would make sense to let the police work eight hours a week until donations started to come in. Motion was approved.

May 24
The mayor and Board of Aldermen met in special called meeting on May 24.
Mayor Pro Tem Dora McFarland informed the board that the mayor stated he would no longer donate the money he previously stated but would donate for her to get eight hours a week to keep her employed. Vote was approved to tell the chief not to return to work until the next board meeting because the town could not afford to pay her and ask her to be present on June 6.

The meetings are open to the public and are held every first Monday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center in Shubuta.
