The Clarke County Board of Supervisors met January 3, 2022, for the first meeting of the year.
Supervisor Mickey Long was voted president of the board for 2022, and Joel Speed vice president.
All county employees were rehired. Each January, the board has the right to rehire or not any employee of the county.
The board also approved the renewing of First State Bank to handle the county’s bank accounts.
In other actions, the board approved:
Training in Las Vegas for 911 Director Jackie Matthews and one other employee
Deputy Austin Cochran a $1 increase in pay beginning in February after completing officer training academy. This is standard procedure for all officers.
To hire Reggie Goldman with Absolute PC to take over the county’s computer repairs, etc.
To purchase an air conditioner unit for the jail.
To renew the lease for Quitman Tank Solutions for 6 months after the sale of the building if they do not win the bid for the sale of the building.
To pay tuition for students to attend the Jones College Center in Stonewall
To inform the public of the bridge repairs on County Road 130 and that it will be closed to traffic for approximately 120 days.
Meetings are open to the public and are held every first and third Mondays of each month at 9 a.m. in the board room.
