ELLISVILLE – In a game that featured 18 lead changes and eight ties, it was the host Jones College Bobcats who came out on top, 86-84, for a fourth straight win over the rival Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs here Friday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
Jones moved to 3-0. Gulf Coast dropped to 2-3.
MGCCC rattled in a layup at the first half buzzer to take a 36-35 lead into the half.
Jones scored a season-best 51 points in the second half and shot a sizzling 63 percent.
Treylan Smith (Petal) had a game-high 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting and added seven rebounds. Zandon Haralson (Center Hill) had 14 -- all in the second half – and Caleb McGill (Petal) added 11.
The Bulldogs placed five in double figures, led by 20 from Donovan Sanders.
Jones shot 55 percent for the night, including 11 triples, while MGCCC shot 47 percent.
The Bobcats host Piney Woods Post Grad at 6 p.m. on Monday. The game will air on JCJC.TV.
