Quitman School District Parents,
I am issuing this statement to alleviate fears and concerns while continuing to provide transparency surrounding Quitman School District. We received notification of a rumor of a potential shooting at Quitman High School. We have investigated and followed up on the reported rumor. I want to assure parents that threats are taken seriously. In an abundance of caution, the following were notified: law enforcement, administrators at QHS, and parents of the said student.
Together, we will forge an amazing school system and community. I implore parents to work with us and not allow the actions of a small few to be detrimental to the relationship and culture we desire for our school, community, students and parents. Again, I want to ensure you that the district will continue to be your best source of transparent and trustworthy information.
Our number one priority is the safety of the learning environment of all students. I am calling on all Panther Nation families to continue supporting our school district and the Quitman community in our mission of providing a high-quality education while ensuring safety for all students.
