PENSACOLA, Florida – No. 10 Jones College cruised to a pair of double digit wins here at the Pensacola Classic over the weekend to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Bobcats knocked off the host Pensacola St. Lady Pirates 92-67 Friday night and Tallahassee 87-63 Saturday afternoon.
Jones built a 14-point halftime lead against Pensacola State and wouldn't allow them within single digits the rest of the way.
Memphis transfer En’Dya Buford (Olive Branch) poured in a career-high 28 points on 10-of-13 field goals, Sakyia White (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) added a double-double and both Meloney Thames (Choctaw Central), 17, and Carly Keats, (Neshoba Central) 10, finished in double figures.
Jones shot a season-high 60 percent in the win and held PSCC to 2-of-10 from downtown.
Tied after a quarter on Saturday against Tallahassee, a 24-7 second quarter advantage for the Bobcats helped them pull away.
Buford backed up a career-high 28 with 19 points and 14 rebounds in the win. White had 23-13 and Thames 17 points.
Jones returns to action Nov. 29 against top-ranked Trinity Valley. The Cardinals had a last-second comeback in regulation to beat Jones in overtime, 86-78, the last meeting.
