The East Mississippi Regional Library System is once again hosting their Annual Food for Fines promotions to benefit their patrons and local communities!
From November 3 through December 22, they are accepting nonperishable food items. Each nonperishable food item donated counts as $1 off of existing overdue fines; however, you don’t have to have a fine in order to donate.
The promotion only covers overdue fines; fines from lost or damaged items are not included.
Everything that is collected is used to help those in need in both Clarke and Jasper Counties.
Nonperishable items can be dropped off at the Quitman Library, Stonewall Library, Enterprise Library, Pachuta Library, Bay Springs Library, or Heidelberg Library.
The following are some suggested items to donate:
• Boxed meals
• Canned soup
• Canned meats, fruits, or vegetables
• Peanut butter
• Cereal
• Pasta
