Clarke Countians are delighted to name a native son, Eddie Ivy, to reign as Grand Marshal of the 2021 Christmas Parade in Quitman.
Eddie was born and educated in Clarke County and is a lifetime resident with an outstanding love for his community. His love for family has been personified with the care he has given for his mother and now deceased father.
In 2016, the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce selected him as Citizen of the Year. Eager to aid by working with many community projects such as the forestry festival, delivering many tubs of ice, transporting handicapped visitors to and from Archusa activites, and many other projects, he was always available with willing hands.
For 33 years, he has been involved in emergency and response at the city, county and state levels of government, and as coordinator for 27 counties.
Eddie has served on board of directors for the American Cancer Society and has designed, coordinated, and conducted exercises for the Mississippi Health Department.
With a love for community, God, and his church, Eddie is an active member of First United Methodist Church of Quitman. His pastor, Rev. Pam Randall, attests that when she calls for help, he’s never too busy to respond.
He retired as Clarke County Management Director and Fire Services in June 2021. Eddie is a true example of a servant for Clarke County and is deserving of the honor of Grand Marshal for the 2021 Clarke County Christmas Parade.
