This game marked the second time the Panthers traveled to Newton, but this time, the Panthers faced the Newton County Cougars.
Jaliel Cameron kicked off the game with a punt that landed on the Cougar 34 yard line. The Cougars wasted no time as they pushed the ball back to the Panther 19 yard line, and in the next play, the Cougars scored a touchdown against the Panthers with a successful two point conversion. The Cougars, now ahead by 8 points, kicked the ball to the Panther 10 yard line.
It was a short-lived effort for the Cougars, as McCoy passed the ball to Cameron, who ran the ball to the Panther 43 yard line. The Cougars snapped the ball back to the Panther end zone. After a successful two point conversion, the Cougars scored another 8 points against the Panthers. The Cougars kicked off the next play with a catch from McCoy, who ran the ball to the Panther 40 yard line. The Cougars pushed back to the Panthers’ 10 yard line. The Cougars then scored another touchdown and a successful PAT. As Deja vu settled itself in, the Cougars scored another touchdown in record time, and with a successful PAT, the Cougars were in the lead with 30 points against the Panthers, who had not scored a point for the entire first quarter.
In the second quarter, however, Akylin Dear pushed the ball to the Cougar 29 yard line. Donavon Williams ran the ball to the Cougar 10 yard line before being pulled out of bounds by a Cougar teammate. Dear quickly tip-toed into the end zone before taking a knee to give the glory to God. Davis’ two point conversion was successful and started the Panthers off with 8 points in the game.
Cameron kicked the ball to the Cougars’ 45 yard line. The Cougars dashed to the Panther end zone, and a successful PAT added 7 points against the Panthers, a cruel reminder that the Cougars wanted more than the victory. As Dear pushed the ball to the Panther 45 yard line and Cameron pushed to the ball to the Cougar 45 yard line, it was Davis who passed the ball to Jeremiah Harris that earned the Panthers their second touchdown. With a bad PAT, the Panthers added 6 points against the Cougars. Before the second quarter ended, the cougars scored another touchdown with a successful PAT against the Panthers.
The halftime score was Panthers 14 - Cougars 44.
In the third quarter of the game, the Panthers successfully held off the Cougars but gained no ground against the two teams.
The exact opposite happened in the final quarter of the game as the Cougars scored a touchdown against the Panthers with a successful PAT. Davis ran the ball to the Cougar 8 yard line. Dear scored a touchdown against the Cougars and took a knee again to give the glory to God. The two point conversion was bad and only earned 6 points against the Cougars. Dear scored the final touchdown against the Cougars, and the PAT from Cameron was good.
The final score of the game was Panthers 28 and Cougars with a devastating score of 51.
The final game of the season will pin the Panthers against the Richland Rangers at home and will begin at 6:30 to honor the seniors.
