CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – The NJCAA has announced the 2020-21 All-Academic Teams, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom. A total of 8,272 student-athletes have been honored for achieving a GPA above 3.60.
"Despite obstacles and adjustments, NJCAA student-athletes rose above challenges to display widespread academic success this year," NJCAA President & CEO Dr. Christopher Parker said. "It is incredible to see these individuals competing again and accomplishing rich athletic and academic success concurrently, we commend their efforts."
Fifty Jones College student-athletes garnered NJCAA All-Academic honors for achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
Eleven Bobcats were recognized on the All-Academic First Team, including Bekah Baugh (Oak Grove), Kirsty Cameron (Ireland), Anna Crane (Pearl), Zach Diaz (Madison Central), Zach Flaskamp (Southeast Lauderdale), Sydney Pevey (Lawrence County), Acacia Rodriguez (Clinton), Chantel Schurr (New Orleans), Andrea Vlasceanu (Spain), Kat Wallace (Brookhaven) and Jake Zaetta (Minnetonka, Minnesota).
A dozen Bobcats earned All-Academic Second Team honors in Matt Burke (Brandon), Ally Brooke Chism (Pontotoc), Andrew Craig (Northwest Rankin), Elean Fajardo (Oak Grove), Taylor Glascoe (Brandon), Salathiel Hemphill (Grenada), Sterling James (DeSoto Central), K.J. Mack (Ocean Springs), Lauren Pope (Pearl), Nacho Vanecek (Argentina), McKinley Weeks (Jackson Prep) and Hershey McLaurin (Collins).
Twenty-seven student-athletes round out All-Academic Third Team recognition, including Poppy Binding (England), Breley Boykin (Jackson Prep), Delaney Cooley (South Jones), Keona Crowell (Forrest County AHS), Jackson Delk (South Jones), Abigayle Green (Starkville), Gage Harbour, Tanner Hatten (Purvis), Chase Honeycutt (DeSoto Central), Drew Horton (Madison-Ridgeland Academy), John Jabour (Warren Central), Kat Knight (Tupelo), Carly Lewis (Jackson Prep), Andre Mack (Madison Central), Bailey Miller (Madison St. Joe), Kyjai Miles (Dallas, Texas), Judith Mills (South Pontotoc), Zylah Mulligan (Oak Grove), Jack Owens (Brandon), Daniel Panzica (Brookhaven), Greyson Parman (Warren Central), Kameron Partridge (West Lauderdale), Travor Randle (Greenwood), Preston Ratliff (Slidell, Louisiana), Evie Simpson (George County), Justin Smith (Holmes County Central) and Khristopher White (Starkville).
Jones' 50 NJCAA All-Academic selections were fourth-most in the MACCC.
