Edward J. Reeves, 91, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on October 15, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 30, 1930, to Charlie J. and Mimi (Shultz) Reeves in Grove Hill, AL.
Edward served for many years as Deacon at Northrup Chapel Baptist Church. He also served as a missionary with the Clarke County Baptist Association where he joined with others to help build churches in the western United States.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Virgie Earline Reeves; daughter, Susan Diane (Peter) Busby; sons, Ronnie (JoAnn) Reeves, Jerry (Kim) Reeves, and Richard Reeves; brother, Al (Mary) Reeves; sister, Gladys Robinson; and a legacy of 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie J. and Mimi Shultz Reeves; brothers, Alvin Reeves, Curtis Reeves, T.C. Reeves, Jimmy Reeves; sister, Myrtle Singley; and granddaughter, Alexandria "Alex" Reeves.
Visitation was held Monday, October 18, 2021, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 18, 2021, 2:30 p.m. at the Covington Cemetery with Rev. Dewayne Robinson, Rev. Perry Smith, and Rev. Ray Smith officiating.
Burial took place in the Covington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association or to The Gideons International.
