Howard Thomas Lewis, Sr. passed away October 5, 2021, in Minden, LA. He was born December 5, 1938, in Stonewall, MS. Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for many years. He was known by his friends as the watermelon peddler and was loved by his family and everyone that knew him. Howard never met a stranger. He will be missed by all those that knew him.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jackson Lewis and Mattie Taylor Lewis; wife, Betty Joan Lewis; son, Mike Lewis; brothers, Floyd Johnson, Lloyd Johnson and William Lewis; and sister, Claudia Gable.
He is survived by his son, Tommy (Brenda) Lewis; daughter Zelda (Estevan) Garcia; grandchildren, Amy (Clay) Pruitt, Jill (Phillip) Peterson, Estevan (Katie) Garcia Jr., Brian Garcia, Victoria (Ben) Garcia Jennings, Katie (Timbo) Moore, Krisi (Richard) Jowers, Sarah (Jason) Giese, Drake Lewis, John Green, Jeanie Marie Hampton, Melinda Green, Leatha Woods, Tiffany Cole, Randall Cherry and James Green; sister, Velma McGrew; numerous great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Services were held Friday October 8, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Beard officiating.
