Mary Jo Gunn, 86, of Stonewall, Mississippi, passed away on August 14, 2021, at Rush Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1935, to Ernest and Hazel (Taylor) Smith in Clarke County, MS.
She was a dedicated and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Stonewall, MS. She was an avid cook and Godly mother and grandmother. She was also longtime employee of Burlington Industries in Stonewall, MS.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughters, Gail Gunn (Wendell) Buffington and Faye Gunn (Larry) Adams; son, Jim Gunn; sisters, Thelma Chancellor, Barbara (J.D.) Whitaker, Martha (Kenny) Stroud, Jackie Smith, and Cheryl (Timmy) Harrison; brother, Lamar Smith; granddaughters, Shea (Lee) Mosley, Nikki (Scott) McCain, Susan Buffington, and Kala Mathis; grandson, Kyle (Cassie) Gunn; great-grandsons, Fletcher (Madison) Warren, Austin (Sarah) Mosley, Colton McCain, Eli Mosley, Brandon McCain, and Caden Mathis; great-granddaughters, Audrie Mathis; great-great-granddaughters, Emma Claire Davidson and Kallie Faith Warren; and great-great-grandson, James Ryan Sealey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Martin (Annie Mae) Smith; mother, Hazel Robinson; husband, Edwin Lamar Gunn; and grandson, Larry Brian Adams.
Visitation was held Saturday, August 21, 2021, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Gullick and Rev. Ray Files officiating. Burial took place in the Stonewall Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Susan Buffington, Todd Kemp, Buddy Dew, Carl Robinson, Shane Harper, and Walter Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Fletcher Warren, Caden Mathis, Austin Mosley, Eli Mosley, Brandon McCain, and Colton McCain.
