Mildred loved her family deeply and her happy congeniality epitomized "Old South" hospitality, as she seemingly always had tea and coffee ready to welcome the frequent guests who dropped in with family members. Her love of Jesus Christ instilled in her a great love of her church where she was an active member. She was a very productive member of the Rolling Creek Choir into her 80s. Her home was often filled with singing when her husband was alive and the children were home, and spontaneous gatherings around the piano were common place.
After retiring from Burlington Industries, Mildred enjoyed pursuing her love of gardening and cooking and was well known for her creative attempts to keep the deer out of her flower gardens with year-round, blinking Christmas lights hung across the hillside. She also worked hundreds of jigsaw puzzles and word search games.
Pallbearers were Mike Rasberry, Jr., Jason Walsh, Gary McNeil, II, John McNeil, Randall Martin, and Kenneth Chancelor. Honorary Pallbearers were Sam Walsh, Sean Walsh and David Etter.
