The Board of Supervisors acknowledged a list of detours of county roads from an upcoming railroad crossing project by Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Some preliminary work has begun in some areas with more work to begin January 3. The closures should only last 4 – 5 hours per day while the work is being completed. The estimated time was not given on how long it will take to complete the projects.
Detours include: County Road 330, 332, 333, River Road, North Street (CR 320), 3751 and 379 (Basic City), and Hwy 18 Pachuta.
The board of supervisor’s annual maintenance inspection of state aid road projects was completed by Mississippi Department of Transportation’s State Aid Road Construction department.
The State Aid engineer praised the county, road manager and road department or an outstanding job. The maintenance inspection report stated the roadway surfaces were in very good condition; commended the county’s installation and maintenance of signage and roadway striping; box maintenance as outstanding.
Maurice Kahlmus, Lori Walton and Allen Worthy of Weems met with the board for their required annual budget presentation. Clarke is one of 9 counties that make up Region Ten of Weems Community Mental Health Center.
The board acknowledged that the courthouse will be closed Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holiday.
The county garbage pick-up will remain on schedule with no changes in the daily route. The county landfill will be closed on Saturday, December 24th.
The board meets the first and third Monday of each month at 9 a.m. in the board room located in the courthouse annex. All meetings are open to the public.
