Last week on Friday, November 5, the Panthers, Big Blue Crew Pep Band, and fans traveled to Bay Saint Louis for the first playoff game for the Panthers as they faced the Tigers in what was the most intense game of the season.
As the game started off, the Panthers received the Tigers’ kick off, caught by Markerius Harrison and ran to the Panther 33 yard line. Akylin Dear ran the ball to the Panther 47 yard line. Jias Davis punted the ball to the Tiger 20 yard line. The Tigers gained control of the ball and ran it to the Panther end zone in just three plays. The PAT was no good and gave the Tigers 6 points.
The Tigers kicked off to the Panthers, who ran the ball to the Panther 30 yard line. The Panthers kicked the ball to the Tigers’ 45 yard line as the second quarter began. The Tigers attempted a pass, but the ball was intercepted by William Jackson who ran the ball back to the Tiger 45 yard line. With a pass to Adrian Brown, the Panthers scored their first touchdown against the Tigers. The two point conversion was a failure. In a short amount of time, Jias Davis passed the ball to Akylin Dear who scored a second touchdown for the Panthers, but with a bad two point conversion, the Panthers only got ahead by 6 points.
The Halftime score was Panthers 12 - Tigers 6.
In the third quarter of the game, the Tigers took no time scoring two touchdowns, but both had bad two point conversions. With the Tigers being ahead by 6 points, Akylin Dear scored a touchdown with a good PAT and earned 7 points for the Panthers.
The Tigers scored another touchdown, but with a bad two point conversion, the Tigers only gained 6 points. Akylin Dear scored 8 points with a touchdown a good two point conversion in the 4th Quarter.
As the Panthers were attempting to gain ground on the Tigers, the Tigers tackled Terrell Doby, severely injuring him. Twenty excruciating minutes passed as field medics, coaches, and first responders all rendered aid to Doby. Doby was later transported to the local hospital for injury evaluation before being transported to Mobile, Alabama. Doby is expected to make a full recovery.
In the last three minutes of the game, The Tigers scored a touchdown with a good PAT that added 7 points and pulled ahead of the Panthers. Akylin came to the rescue with a run that was fast as lightning and scored a touchdown and a bad PAT against the Tigers.
The Panthers were ahead and things were looking great for the Panthers, but in the final twelve seconds of the game, the Tigers scored a touchdown and a good PAT that ended the Panthers’ football season. The Panthers lost the game with a final score of Panthers 33 - Tigers 39.
