Alabama and Texas A&M are the only unbeaten teams remaining in conference play. So after the half-way point of the season, we are down to two perfect teams.
The most exciting game had to be the A&M and Tennessee game. The Vols hopefully learned a lesson that they can’t always come back against top tier teams. Aggie quarterback Trevor Knight threw for two scores and ran for three others.
BETTER TAKE NOTICE GAME: Auburn’s easy 38-14 win over MSU puts the Tigers back in the SEC race. Look for the Tigers to be a player in the SEC West.
This week’s games begin Friday night when MSU travels to BYU in a non-league contest. The other non-league game will be LSU hosting USM. In conference play, Vandy goes to Georgia, Alabama travels to Tennessee, Missouri visits Florida, and Ole Miss travels to Arkansas. A&M, Kentucky, South Carolina and Auburn are open.
MSU will have their hands full in Provo, Utah. The Cougars will be ready to play a team from the SEC. The Bulldogs have some work to do on the defensive side of the ball and are still not in sync on the other side of the football. BYU wins a close one, 24-21.
Arkansas threw for over 400 yards against Alabama last week and could light up the Rebels’ secondary this week. The Razorbacks have won two straight over the Rebels. Arkansas has lost to some pretty good teams in A&M and Alabama, but look for the Rebels to escape with a wild 35-31 win.
USM lost a game that they should have won. UT-San Antonio jumped out to a big lead, and USM could not keep up in the loss. Maybe USM was looking ahead to their LSU game this weekend. The USM defense allowed 532 yards of offense to the Roadrunners. They could get embarrassed for a second straight week if they don’t stop the Tigers’ running game this week. LSU 35, USM 17.
Week 7 picks
Alabama 35, Tennessee 28; Florida 17, Missouri 10; Georgia 20, Vandy 10.
The Scribe was only 4-2 last week but improved to 48-12 on the year
