Jayla Marshall has been cheering for 13 years and truly has a passion for it. She is extremely excited to be able to continue her education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
“I’ve been cheering for 13 years of my life, and I’m so excited to further my career at Mississippi Gulf Coast,” expressed Jayla. “I chose Gulf Coast because it has classes for my career, and I feel like it’s the best place for me to be.”
She intends to pursue a career in nursing and feels like Mississippi Gulf Coast is the best college to help her achieve her goals.
Of course, she has made some great memories while cheering in high school.
“My favorite memories from cheering are just cheering on the sidelines and being with my friends on Friday night,” declared Jayla.
Coach Needra Davis-Hubbard is proud of the person she has seen Jayla become over the past few years.
“When I first met Jayla Marshall, she was very quiet, shy, and wasn’t sure of herself,” recalled Needra. “As I’ve loved her and grown to know her, she stepped into her leadership position. She was actually my cheer captain this year. She just really blossomed in that position, being able to speak up for herself and her teammates.”
With her years of experience in cheer, Jayla has some advice that she would give the underclassmen.
“Stay focused on your goals and your dreams,” advised Jayla.
