Martin Luther Gunn, age 70, of Enterprise, MS, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Martin will be remembered as a reliable, self-motivated, hardworking, diligent, and determined man as well as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law.
Martin completed high school at Enterprise and continued his education at Meridian Community College, where he earned an associate’s degree in applied science. Martin and Wallace Bogan owned and operated B&G Garage in Enterprise, MS, where Dollar General is located now, for many years. While running the business, Martin began working part-time at Roadway. Before long, he was offered a full-time position there, leading him and Wallace to conclude it was time to close the chapter on B&G Garage. Later, Roadway was acquired to YRC, where Martin continued his career until retiring after 39 years of service.
Martin was a faithful servant of God and was always willing to help those in need. He dedicated many years to serving as a deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Martin’s final act of kindness was his selfless decision to donate his body, contributing to medical research and education. In death, as in life, he gave generously, ensuring future generations could benefit from advancements in medicine.
Martin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; daughter, Carrie Lynn (Samuel Kelly Nance II); grandchild, Carrie Cadance; sister, Deborah (Richard); and brother, Scotty.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Eileen Gunn; brother, Michael Wayne Gunn; great-niece, Little Lynn Mason; and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Enterprise, MS, at 2:00 p.m.
