McKayla Bedwell, 26, of Enterprise, Mississippi, passed away surrounded by the love and presence of her family at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. In her final moments, McKayla was not alone; she was surrounded by the same love she had given to others throughout her life. A celebration of life service was held Sunday, August 23, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. from the Linden Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Kynard, Bro. Darren Williams and Bro. Jerry Gaddy officiating. Visitation began one hour prior to the service.
McKayla was a devoted mother whose greatest purpose in life was loving and providing for her twin girls. As a single mother, she worried diligently to give them the best life she could. She never simply did what was expected when it came to her girls. McKayla always went above and beyond. Whether it was making something special, planning an experience, or finding a way to give them more, she poured herself into making sure her girls felt loved, celebrated, and cared for. So much of who she was centered around being their mom, and there was very little she wouldn’t do for them.
McKayla had found a career she truly loved as a Volunteer Coordinator with Accent Care. Her caring heart made the role a natural fit for her. She had a genuine desire to help others and was known for giving freely of herself, even during times when she may not have been in a position to do so. If someone needed her, McKayla wanted to help.
McKayla's faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Linden Baptist Church, where she was surrounded by a church family and a foundation of faith that remained with her throughout her life. She believed in the Lord and the promise of eternal life, a faith that now brings comfort to those who love her most.
She lived with a spontaneous and adventurous spirit. McKayla was always ready for a trip, an adventure, or simply an opportunity to make a memory. The beach held a special place in McKayla’s heart, and she never needed much convincing to pack her bags. Some of her favorite getaways were concerts with her sister. Concert going became their signature escape, a chance for the two of them to get away together, sing along to their favorite songs, laugh, and make memories that will forever be treasured.
She was an open book, unapologetically herself, and the kind of person people felt like they truly knew. To many, though, she was simply “KK.” It was a name that became especially beloved among the many children she met while attending pageants with her niece. KK quickly became a favorite: someone the kids looked for, loved being around, and knew would be right there cheering them on. She had a special way of making people feel loved and welcomed. It seemed that everywhere she went someone knew “KK,” but before “KK,” she was BooBoo, a name that belonged especially to the bond that her and her dad shared. To her family, these little names carry a lifetime of memories and represent the many different ways McKayla was deeply loved.
McKayla shared an incredibly special bond with her mother. The two were alike in so many ways. Sharing not only similar personalities but a love for simply being together. Concerts, shopping trips, and frequent visits to the nail salon were some of their favorite ways to spend time together. The loss of her mother left a space in her heart that could never be filled, yet the love between them never faded. There is comfort now knowing that the mother and daughter who shared so much in this life have found one another again.
McKayla is survived by her greatest treasures, her twin daughters, Aubree and Nova Bedwell, whom she loved beyond measure and leaves behind to carry on so much of her love and spirit.
She is also survived by her father and stepmom, Wally and Angela Bedwell; sister and brother-in-law, Savannah and Nathan Creel; brother, Landon Bedwell; her beloved niece, Harper Creel, who shared a particularly special bond with her “KK”; Jonathan Smith who held a special place in McKayla’s heart; grandparents, Mike/Janice Richardson and Joe/Brenda Bedwell; her honorary grandmother, Vivian Sheffield; fur brother that loved his sissy, Levi; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved her deeply.
McKayla was preceded in death by her mother, Angela Gilland; grandmother, Anna Bedwell; great grandparents, Dorothy White, Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Bedwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Young.
McKayla’s 26 years on this earth were far too few, but the love she gave will continue to live on in every life she touched. She will be remembered for her giving heart, her spontaneous spirit, her willingness to help anyone in need, and the way she loved her people with everything she had. She was McKayla to some, KK to many, but her most treasured name of all was “Mama” to Aubree and Nova.
Though they must now grow without her beside them, they will never grow without the love she poured into them. Her love will remain in their memories, in the stories told about her, and the pieces she left within each of them.
McKayla was deeply loved, will be immeasurably missed, and will never be forgotten. And while saying goodbye feels impossible, there is comfort in knowing she was welcomed into heaven by the mother she had missed for so long. Until we see you again, keep the music playing, the adventures going, and save us a place beside you.
