I am a lifelong resident of Clarke County. I grew up in the Rolling Creek community. My parents are Latriece Smith and the late R.L. Smith. I graduated from Quitman High School in 1983. After graduating, I attended Jones Junior College for one year and then went to work off-shore. I was offered a job at Burlington Industries in Stonewall where I worked in management for 16 years. When Burlington Industries shut down, I bought Long’s Fish Camp and have owned it for 24 years. I served as Clarke County Supervisor District 3 for two terms 2012-2019. I was elected House of Representatives District 84 2020-2024. I am thankful and very humbled by the support given to me during this time. Thanks to the good Lord, family, and friends, I will be serving District 84 as your Representative for four more years 2024-2028, and I promise to continue to work hard for the people of District 84.
I am married to Michelle Ballard Smith. We have two daughters: Haley Brooke Holley, married to Brandon Holley, and Harley Dikes, married to Dalton Dikes. We also have two granddaughters, Harlow and Hadley Holley, and a grandson due in March. I am honored to be named Grand Marshall of this year’s Mardi Gras Parade. I hope everyone will come out for the fun, throw some bead and candy, and as they say, “Laissez les bon temps rouler.”
