“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:29
With deep sorrow but profound gratitude we share the peaceful passing of Mildred “Louise” Younger, a precious woman of God and a faithful servant, who transitioned into eternity surrounded by the family she so dearly loved. Mrs. Younger, of DeSoto, MS, was born October 1, 1944, to Ted and Mildred (Harris) Arrington in Clarke County, MS.
She was a woman of quiet strength and grace but bold in her love for the Lord and people. Her greatest joy was in her family, whom she nurtured with unconditional love. Not long ago, reflecting on her 80 years, she shared that she was proud of the legacy she had built—a legacy of children who raised Godly children and those children are now raising their own children to know and love God. Her influence ripples through generations, as she laid the foundation of faith for all who came after her.
Mrs. Younger, lovingly known as “Mamaw Weezy,” was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister and friend and her home was a haven of peace, joy, and safety. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in her family and in the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband Dick Younger; children, Sabrina (Daryl) Mathews, Gina (Randy) Sims, Greg Browning, and Matt (Beth) Younger; nine grandchildren, Kristen (Chris) Isom, Justin (Veronica) Culpepper, April (Cade) Warner, Nathan (Cali) Sims, Kaitlyn (Chance) Gray, James (Priscilla) Browning, Anna Grace (Dawson) Ivey, Luke Sims and Scott Mathews; 17 great-grandchildren, Karsyn Thomas, Kamryn Isom, Karter Isom, Jude Culpepper, Micah Culpepper, Hayden Mathews, Vivian Warner, Cline Isom, Jackson Culpepper, Dru Culpepper, David Sims, Isabella Sims, Silas Warner, Kylan Sims, Amelia Sims, Grayson Ivey, and Shepherd Gray; her siblings, Kay (Jim) Riley, Jeff (Sandy) Arrington, Ruth (Pat) Fortenberry, and Merle (Jerry) Henson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Pallbearers are Matt Younger, Justin Culpepper, Nathan Sims, James Browning, Luke Sims and Chris Isom. Honorary Pallbearers are Cade Warner, Chance Gray, and Dawson Ivey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ted Arrington, Jr., and her first husband James Browning.
As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 9:30-11 a.m. at DeSoto Baptist Church, Shubuta, MS. Funeral services will be held immediately following with Rev. Dewayne Crane and Rev. Randy Sims officiating. Burial will take place in the DeSoto Cemetery.
