The E-911 Dispatch Office officially moved to a new location on February 23.
The new location is more conducive to the work that the dispatchers are required to do, and they were given a new system to work with in the new location. Jackie Matthews, the Clarke County 911 Coordinator, is very pleased with both the location and the system and believes it is better for the county.
“To me, the system is better than the old system we had. It’s more up-to-date. Everyone is trained and working on that system, so that’s perfect. We’re still in the process of seeing everything we can do with it,” expressed Jackie. “As far as helping our first responders, I think the alerts are coming through better. Since we moved, we haven’t had as many problems with the fire departments not receiving notifications like they’re supposed to, so I feel that they are actually getting them. Now, the notifications are all in one little bunch and tell you everything that’s going on.”
Since they have moved locations, there has been a slight change in the numbers used to reach dispatch. If anyone needs to call non-emergency dispatch, please use the following numbers:
