Slow pitch softball came to an end with the 2019 season. Looking to the future, the Enterprise School District added Girls Volleyball to the list of sports. As with everything else, COVID-19 put obstacles in the way for schools and school athletics in the Spring. Volleyball coach was hired, the schedule was made and still no team for weeks. Finally, with a small opening and strict guidelines, EHS was able to hold tryouts and establish the first ever Lady Bulldog Volleyball team. Even though the season record was not the best, this group of young ladies stepped up and learned a game that was foreign to Enterprise.
I was able to sit down with Coach Swart and this is what he had to say about the first Lady Bulldog Volleyball team and season. “This Volleyball season was one that faced many trials, and I watched 24 young ladies grow, mature, and compete even though they had a lot stacked against them. They made reference to it being the “COVID-19” season. I was truly proud of how they handled the adversity. We had many learning curves, and they handled it with grace. We did not get to play many games, but the ones we did get to play, they competed at the highest level I could ask. I truly enjoyed this season and cannot wait for year #2. My four seniors understood the importance of being there each day ready to compete and get better. They may have had to take dance breaks and laugh at themselves, but they brought energy each day!”
