Benny J. Pope was born January 31, 1944, in Shubuta, Mississippi. He passed from this life on March 22, 2021, at Rush Foundation Hospital after a three week battle with Covid 19.
Ben graduated from Quitman High School in the Class of 1962. He went on to graduate from Jones Junior College and William Carey University. Ben was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served as a dog trainer. He and his trusted dog Rex worked hand and paw together for three years. Ben retired for the Sherwin Williams Paint Company after working with them for 25 years.
He made a valuable gift to the University of Mississippi Medical School by donating his body for use in training medical students.
Ben was a Christian and was active in church most of his life. There will be a memorial to celebrate his life at a later date.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Katherine Pope. He is survived by his brother, Gayle Pope.
