James C. Smith Sr., 82, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on December 25, 2020, at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1938, to Sisson and Laudia Mae (Freeman) Smith in Mississippi.
James is survived by his wife, Edith Smith; son, Carl (Carol) Smith; daughter, Edie Harper; three grandchildren, Jaymie (Meagen) Smith, Kaytelyn (Daniel) Harris, and Hayleigh (Ricky) Gardner; five great-grandchildren, Amelia Kate Smith, Ty Smith, Rowan Gardner, Walker Harris, and Ramzee Harris (on the way); and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisson and Laudia Mae Smith; brother, W. S. Smith; and a sister, Nyoka Hammond.
Graveside service was held on Monday, December 28, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Coats and Rev. Ron Stanley officiating. Burial took place in the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jaymie Smith, Danny Hardee, Kenny Jimmerson, Kelly Jimmerson, Troy Smith, Scotty Denton, Jon-Jon Lucas, and Jon-Pat Lucas.
