Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Lewis, Jr.; her parents, Karl and Louise Bohl; and her brother, David Bohl.
She was a great wife to Junior for 59 years and theirs was a great love story. They lived a life of faithfulness, steadfast hope and prayer. They shared a love for God, each other and their children. They leave behind a Christian heritage and legacy of love. There is a plaque that hangs in their home that reads, “A perfect marriage is just two imperfect people that refuse to give up on each other.” Her children are heartbroken, yet happy for their Mama and Daddy that they are together again for eternity with no more pain and no more stress. They are so thankful for the love and discipline given them as children and continued love and guidance as adults so that they would be the men and women their parents wanted them to be.
Some of Karlotta’s children’s best moments were spent in her kitchen with her teaching them how to cook or watching her cut out patterns and sew. She cooked and sewed for lots of people in our city and county. She also kept many children in her home over the years. She was multi-talented. She influenced her children’s lives in so many ways. Most importantly, she taught them to fiercely love Jesus, to love the Word of God and stand on his promises, taught them to pray and trust God with their lives. She kept a song on her heart and many times they would find her singing songs of inspiration, hymns or choruses while washing dishes or doing other chores.
She had scriptures she would quote to encourage them, herself or others through whatever situation they faced. The last scripture she quoted was Psalm 138:8, “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me.” Another favorite verse of hers was Isaiah 54:13, “All your children will be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children.” Her one constant prayer was that all five of her children would serve God.
