Rita Merle Mathis, 83, of Quitman, MS, passed away on October 19, 2020, at Anderson's Hospital. She was born on August 25, 1937, to Otis and Mary Lou Fleming in Clarke County, MS.
Rita is survived by her three sons, Roy Mathis, Keith Mathis, and Mark C. (Kay) Mathis; sisters, Nadine Allen, Elizabeth Hopson, Carolyn White, and Polly Adams and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mary Lou Fleming; husband, Edward C. Mathis; son, Jerry C. Mathis; brothers, Tommy Ray Fleming and J. C. Fleming; and sister, Clima Glynn Chatham.
Visitation was held Friday, October 23, 2020, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, MS.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 23, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Volking officiating. Burial took place in the State Line Methodist Church Cemetery in Clarke County, MS.
Pallbearers were Zachary Lambert, Wendell Fagan, Ken "Bo" Fleming, Randy Mathis, Bert Carmichael, Mark Greer, and Gene Holley.
