Walter Scott Howard, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on January 11, 2021, at South Central Regional in Laurel, MS.
Mr. Howard was a Major in the United States Civil Air Patrol and was a recruiter for the Air Force Academy. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division in the United States Army. He was a mentor to countless up and coming Nurse Practioners, Physician's Assistants, Nurses, Paramedics and Soldiers. Mr. Howard was a private pilot and served on the Board of the Clarke County Airport. He was an accomplished scuba diver and he spoke Scottish Gaelic fluently.
Walter is survived by his parents, Bruce and Mary Howard; wife, Cathryn Howard; sons, Andrew (Brittany) Howard and Ryan Howard; brother, Ken Howard; sisters, Kim Shaw, Penny Simcik, Beth Arteaga, and Lynn Young; and grandchild, Caelan Howard.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Gardner Willis and maternal grandmother, Mary Jewel Gardner.
Visitation was held Friday, January 15, 2021, after 12:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 15, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Patty Robinson officiating.
Burial took place in the Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
