The Nation's Weather for Sunday, July 16, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a large storm system moves eastward tomorrow and
interacts with warm, moist air from the Atlantic, heavy
showers and storms are expected to develop in portions of
the mid-Atlantic and Northeast. This can lead to several
inches of rain falling in the span of just a few hours,
leading to substantial flooding risks. This will be
especially concerning in locations that recently had heavy
rain and flooding this week. Farther west, at least a few
severe storms are expected from Kansas into Missouri and
Iowa. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main
threats. Extreme heat will continue in the Southwest, with
highs well over 110 degrees Fahrenheit across most of the
deserts. In Death Valley, high temperatures may even reach
130 degrees.
