The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, July 19, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Dry air with less smoke will advance from the Great Lakes to
the Northeast today. Showers and thunderstorms will exit to
the Atlantic as a result. However, a new batch of severe
thunderstorms will grow from the eastern part of the Dakotas
and Minnesota to Colorado, as well as parts of New Mexico
and northwestern Texas. The storms may bring everything from
high winds and large hail to flash flooding and tornadoes.
Storms that erupt and repeat from Missouri and southern
Illinois to southern Virginia and North Carolina will bring
a heightened risk of flash flooding with localized strong
winds. Very hot and humid air will build from Texas to parts
of Florida as extreme heat continues in the Southwest. Some
cooler air will expand from Washington and Oregon to the
western part of the Dakotas.
