The Nation's Weather for Saturday, August 26, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms will follow an advancing cold front southward
tomorrow, stretching along the central Plains and through
the Ohio Valley into New England. Showers are expected
farther west across New York and Pennsylvania. Behind this
front, the recent near-record heat from the Midwest into
northern portions of the Mississippi Valley will start to
abate as high pressure brings in less uncomfortable
conditions. The heat will intensify for portions of the
Southeast and the mid-Atlantic, with thunderstorms
developing in the afternoon across the Carolinas and perhaps
Virginia as well. Monsoon thunderstorms will build once
again around the Four Corners region and through the
Intermountain West, with generally dry conditions along the
West Coast.
