NATIONAL SUMMARY
An area of showers and thunderstorms will shift today from
the eastern Great Lakes to the Northeast. Some thunderstorms
from the Vermont-Canada border to northern Virginia will
have the potential to turn severe, bringing the risk of
flash flooding and locally damaging wind gusts. East of the
storms, abnormally high humidity and heat will continue.
Spotty thunderstorms are also expected from the mid-Atlantic
to the Florida and Louisiana Gulf coasts, especially in the
afternoon. A few localized thunderstorms are also likely in
the Dakotas. Dry weather is forecast for the Central states,
while another hot and dry day is in store for much of Texas.
Dry weather is in the outlook from the Rockies to the West
Coast.
