The Nation's Weather for Monday, October 2, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a powerful cold front drives eastward into a warm and
moisture-laden air mass, thunderstorms are expected to turn
severe tomorrow within a zone extending from the Big Bend of
Texas northward to the Canadian border with North Dakota.
Within this area, hail and damaging wind gusts are expected.
Otherwise, rain and embedded thunderstorms will occur behind
the cold front across portions of the Intermountain West,
with some snow possible once again at the highest elevations
of states such as Utah and Wyoming. The next arriving storm
will bring locally heavy rain to western Washington state
and northern Oregon, but the rest of the West Coast should
be dry. Most locations in the East will be dry with
sunshine, but a slow-moving front means more downpours for
South Florida and South Texas.
