The Nation's Weather for Sunday, December 10, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
The risk for severe thunderstorms follows an intensifying
storm to the east tomorrow, resulting in a broad potential
for damaging wind gusts from southern New Jersey into
central Florida. Thunderstorms may even be able to produce a
few tornadoes, perhaps most likely near the Outer Banks of
North Carolina. Extremely heavy rainfall will extend
northward along the path of this disturbance across New
England through the day as very mild air surges up the
Eastern Seaboard. Behind this storm, cooler and drier air
will race into areas from the Ohio Valley into the South,
where high temperatures will drop up to 20 degrees
Fahrenheit from today's readings. Otherwise, most of the
western two-thirds of the nation will be dry, with the
exception being the Northwest, where a new storm brings rain
and interior snow.
