The Nation's Weather for Saturday, December 16, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
During the day tomorrow, the entire western half of the
nation can expect a dry start to the weekend as a very large
zone of strong high pressure remains parked over the
Intermountain West. Similarly, a separate area of high
pressure centered in southern Quebec will make for rain-free
conditions from the eastern Great Lakes into the Northeast
and the mid-Atlantic. Active weather will be confined to the
Midwest and the Southeast. In the Southeast, a storm will
start to intensify as it comes onshore near or along the Big
Bend of Florida, delivering increasingly widespread heavy
rainfall and the risk for severe thunderstorms from Florida
into southern Georgia. Steady rain will stretch from
Louisiana into southern Wisconsin, with snow for
northwestern Minnesota.
