The Nation's Weather for Thursday, December 21, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Rain, heavy at times, will drift farther to the south
tomorrow as a persistent storm continues to spin off the
Southern California coastline, bringing the potential for
flooding downpours in and around the Los Angeles area. Rain
will change to snow through some of the higher elevations of
the Sierra Nevada. Farther east, a separate storm will bring
increasing coverage of rain and drizzle from southeastern
Minnesota through much of northern Texas through the day as
moist flow increases, with more intermittent shower activity
extending as far east as Illinois through the afternoon.
Otherwise, dry conditions are expected for the vast majority
of the nation, with one zone of high pressure promoting calm
conditions in the Intermountain West and another keeping the
East quiet.
