The Nation's Weather for Monday, April 1, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A potent storm will continue to track eastward across the
center of the nation tomorrow, spreading rain and
thunderstorms from the mid-Atlantic to the Midwest. As the
cold front associated with this storm shifts eastward over
the Southern Plains, severe thunderstorms can develop from
southern Illinois and Indiana to northeastern Texas in the
afternoon and at night, bringing the risk of flooding
downpours, large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. On the
cold side of the storm, rain and snow showers will fall from
South Dakota through much of the Four Corners states. There
can be a rumble of thunder with any shower across Arizona
and New Mexico. As a zone of high pressure begins to build
in the Northwest, milder conditions will return, with
temperatures trending above historical averages.
