Chris Smith was arrested in Lauderdale County on Wednesday, September 11, after a standoff with law enforcement.
The Clarke County Sheriff’s Department had been searching for Smith for several weeks and received a tip that he was in Lauderdale County. They then contacted the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department to relay the information. Lauderdale County took Smith into custody on Wednesday, and he was transferred to the Clarke County Jail on Sunday, September 15, where he is now being held.
Smith had warrants out for his arrest by both the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
“He was out on house arrest with an ankle monitor, but he failed to report and cut the ankle monitor off,” said Deputy Barry White. It was at this time that the warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest.
He is being charged with felony possession of a firearm.
