ELLISVILLE – No. 14 Jones College rallied for a come-from-behind win in the opener, 5-4, and then exploded for a season-high 19 runs in a run-rule victory to sweep Reid State Friday afternoon at Community Bank Park.
Jones, 10-1, has now won eight straight since a 27-6 shellacking to No. 3 East Central in its home-opener.
Reid State dropped to 5-4 in its second season of competition.

Trailing 3-2 in the fifth and down to its last eight outs, Chase Russell (Madison Central) homered to tie the game for Jones and Brayden Quick’s (Germantown) infield single put the Cats in front for good in a come-from-behind win.
Russell gave Jones a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run double.
Garrett West singled through the left side to tie the game for the Lions in the third and his sac fly in the fifth made it 3-2 Reid State.
Russell's homer tied it in the bottom of the frame.
Talan Theriot (Luling, La.), who finished 3-for-4, gave the Bobcats some more breathing room with an RBI-triple in the sixth.
Russell got the no-decision on the mound in four innings, allowing an earned run with six strikeouts. Caden Freeman (Marshall Academy) got the win in an inning of relief and Canyon Reeves (George County) his first collegiate save.
Jones 19, Reid State 3 (5 inn.)
The Bobcats scored eight runs in the first, highlighted by Sanders Ainsworth’s (Madison Central) fourth homer of the year and Kelan Guidry’s (Baton Rouge, La.) infield RBI-single, and ran away with a run-rule victory to close out a sweep.
Russell doubled in the second to make it 11-1. Theriot and Walker Long (Sumfall) added RBI-singles in the third to make it 16-1.
Russell and Guidry had four RBIs each to pace 11 different Bobcats with a hit. Cal Cassard (Watson, La.) and Collin Haney (Columbia) had two hits apiece.
Colton Smith (Bossier City, La.) improved to 4-0 in four innings of work, scattering six strikeouts and no earned runs. He has yet to yield an earned run in 14.1 innings pitched this year.
Hinds transfer Reid Gaston (Harfield Academy) tossed the top of the fifth in his second appearance for Jones.
