I recently received the following letter this week from Governor Tate Reeves awarding the City of Quitman $600,000.00 to be used for much needed wastewater and sewer improvements. Even though this particular grant cannot be allocated for the City’s storm water issues, it is a step in the right direction to solving other issues we face in an aging infrastructure. It took a great deal of work securing this grant and many of our residents participated in completing the necessary surveys last fall that made all the difference.

I am pleased to inform you the city of Quitman's application for Small Public Facilities funds through the Community Development Block Grant program in the amount of $600,000 has been approved by the Mississippi Development Authority.
This funding demonstrates the city of Quitman's commitment to community needs in Mississippi. I commend you for this initiative to improve the quality of life in your community.
The contract is contingent upon environmental clearance, which must be completed within four months of the award date, or it will automatically be voided. Lisa Maxwell, Community Incentives Division bureau manager, will contact you regarding your grant agreement.
