Mrs. Lillian B. "Patsy" Toney, 93, of Shubuta, MS, passed from this life Friday, February 25, 2022, at her residence. She was born in Brandon, MS, on Monday, November 5, 1928, to Vanderbilt B. Baker and Lillie Whitley Baker. She was a member of Shubuta United Methodist Church. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and worked as a teacher and coach.
Mrs. Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, Ras Lee Toney, Sr.; father, Vanderbilt B. Baker; mother, Lillie Whitley Baker; two brothers, Max Baker, Jerry Baker; sister, Maxine Baker Jackson.
She is survived by her three sons, Ras Lee Toney, Jr. (Pat), Brandon, MS, Brad Toney, Shubuta, MS, Barry S. Toney, Dallas, TX; brother, Doug Baker (Jackie Sue), Brandon, MS; four sisters, Ann Drye (David), Long Beach, MS, Mary Steenhuis, Clara Tatum, Carol Baker; sister-in-law, Martha Baker, all of Brandon, MS; granddaughter, Brielle Pepper (Brad); great grandson, Finley Ras Pepper, all of Flora, MS; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Patsy will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2022, at Shubuta United Methodist Church, 160 High Street, Shubuta, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at Shubuta United Methodist Church with Rev. Pamela Bruns and Rev. Ron Stanley officiating. Interment will be in Toney Family Cemetery in Shubuta.
Pallbearers are Dudley Donald, Kenny Desporte, Howie Freeman, Martin Jenkins, David Drye, and Shaun Toney. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jack McHenry and Jim Morgan.
