Sherrie P. Johnson, age 62, passed from this life on December 8, 2021, at Anderson's Hospital.
Sherrie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to spoil her family, make memories with her children and grandchildren, travel, make others laugh and help others. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, as she bravely fought her illness for years. She was so brave and selfless. She told a friend: "I would much rather bear this burden of cancer than for any of my family."
She was preceded in death by her birth father, Stanley Peebles; her parents, Joyce and Ted Jacobs; and granddaughter, Hudson Johnson (Sherrie's sleeping angel).
Sherrie is survived by her lifelong sweetheart and husband of 45 years, Michael D. Johnson; her three sons, Chris (Laine), Scotty (Jenney Weeks), and Phillip (Ashlea); her grandchildren, whom she adored, Noah, Caleb, and Dacey Johnson, Kyndall Simpson, Presley and Swayze Johnson; brothers, Bruce Jacobs, Clint and Steve Peebles, and Laron Ennis; and her sisters, Rachel Difatta and Joy Prewitt.
Sherrie is survived by many who loved her, including her lifelong traveling buddies who traveled with her on this final journey so she never had to walk alone: Stephanie Glass, Sondra Fleming, Theresa Hamrick and Lauri Fleming.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Voss, Anderson's Cancer Center Staff, Anderson's Hospital 2nd Floor Staff, Anderson's ICU staff, Brother Kendall Turner, Providence Church family, Diane Gates and neighbors, David and Matt Mayo, and all who helped to make this journey a little more bearable.
Visitation was held after 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2021, at Wright's Funeral Home in Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel in Quitman with Rev. Troy Dew, Rev. Kendall Turner, and Danny Napp officiating.
