Ann D. Callahan, 95, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on September 30, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on September 11, 1928, to William and Annie (Long) Davis in Quitman, MS.
Ann was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church where she served in many roles. She was an office manager/insurance agent for over 48 years. She was awarded Insurance Woman of the Year in Jackson County, MS, where she received her recognition as a Certified Professional Insurance Woman. Mrs. Callahan and her husband were active in the missionary field for the North American Mission Board and the Southern Baptist Convention. She enjoyed traveling across the United States and to numerous other countries.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Ruth C. Mason; son, William Lowry Callahan; four grandchildren, Linda Ann Mason (Jake) Sistrunk, Margaret Mason (Prasanth) Prasanna, Erin Callahan (Trey) Wade, Cera Nicole Callahan; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan Griffin, Caleb (Jami) Griffin, Brandon Sistrunk, Carley Sistrunk, Aleyka Prasanna, Amelia Wade; great-great-grandson, Caiden Griffin; and sister, Nell Gavin.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Edward Davis, Sr.; mother, Annie Long Davis; husband, Alton Lamar Callahan; six brothers, Jimmy Davis, Austin Davis, Albert Davis, Clifton Davis, John Davis, and Edward (Buddy) Davis, Jr.; and six sisters, Lucille Boothe, Grace Halbert, Ruby Beshears, Hazel Barker, Maudie Williams, and Ethel Jackson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Union Baptist Church Meridian, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Perault, Dr. Marcus Finch, and Brandon Sistrunk officiating.
Burial will take place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Davis, Bruce Martin, Charles Martin, Wiley Williams, Darryl Beshears and Glenn Prudhomme. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Smith, Terry Callahan and Bobby Joe Moulds.
