Annette Simmons Hutto, 92, of Quitman, MS, passed away on July 31, 2023, at Wisteria Manor surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 28, 1930, to Ralph and Cora (Estess) Simmons in Pike County, MS.
Annette was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with her Bachelor's Degree in Library Science and second Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She retired after 30 plus years of service to the Mississippi Department of Human Services for Clarke County, MS. She served on the Board of Directors for H. C. Watkins Memorial Hospital, in Quitman, MS. She also served in numerous other community organizations such as the Quitman Lions Club, Quitman Woman's Club, and Clarke County Chamber of Commerce (where she was elected as Citizen of the Year in 2002). She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Quitman, MS. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and a friend that gave unselfishly of herself and her talents to enrich the lives of others.
Annette is survived by her three daughters, Rhonda (Wayne) Kennedy, Brenda McKenzie, and Sandra (Robert) Williams; six grandchildren, Robyn (Bill) English, Brad (Holly) Kennedy, Brooke (Ben) Ivy, Graham McKenzie, Kristen Carney, Bethany (Matt) Jones; 12 great-grandchildren, Claire English, Kate English, Colette Kennedy, Hunter Ivy, Dakota Ivy, Starla Ivy, Storm Carney, Emi Ivy, Raylee Ivy, Mack Jones, Pamela Jones, and Jacks Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Cora Simmons; husband, Craig Hutto; daughter, Lisa Carney; brother, Lee Simmons; sister, Rhoda Prisock; and sons-in-law, Jimmy Carney and Joe McKenzie.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, after 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Quitman, MS.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Quitman, MS, with Rev. Ed Shoemaker officiating.
Annette has made an anatomical gift of her remains for education and medical research.
